Association of Clinical Scientists (ACS) audiology-specific competence document updated

It was agreed in November 2019 that the HTS non-clinical modules would no longer be a compulsory component of the professional body approved formal training scheme for those applying to the ACS for the Certificate of Attainment, using route one.

The discipline-specific version of the general competence document has now been updated to reflect this and is available on the ACS website (see http://www.assclinsci.org/Libraries/Application_Documents/Specific_Competences-Audiology.sflb.ashx).

Applications under route one can now be made by individuals who have been awarded the three clinical modules (adult rehabilitation, Paediatric Assessment, and Balance Assessment and Rehabilitation), and are able to provide evidence that they have met those competencies (previously evidenced by the non-clinical modules), though local courses, training and experience.

Please note, the competencies themselves have not changed, only the requirement to have been awarded the BAA non-clinical certificates has been removed. Further guidance documents can be found on the ACS website; Association of Clinical Scientists
