This year’s BAA AGM featured a number of changes for the Board of Directors. Claire Benton starts her term as the new President of the British Academy of Audiology, with a new Vice President by her side – Dr Saima Rajasingam.

Vice President Dr Saima Rajasingam
Saima is Deputy Head of School (Curriculum) for Psychology, Sports and Sensory Sciences & Senior Lecturer in Audiology at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. Following her graduation with a BSc (Hons) in Audiology from University College London, Saima obtained her PhD in Auditory Perception at Aston University. She is an AHCS-registered Audiologist and HCPC-registered Hearing Aid Dispenser, with experience in the NHS and private sector.

Two new Board Directors
Following the recent Board Elections, we are pleased to announce that Keiran Joseph was voted back on to serve a second term. He will therefore retain his post as BAA Treasurer. Keiran, and the rest of Board, will be joined by new directors Adrian Carragher and Jane Deans. Adrian is Head of Service (Audiology), Audiology Service, University Hospital Ayr, Scotland, and Jane Deans is Head of Audiology, Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen in Wales.

Thank you
The BAA Board would like to thank Dr Sam Lear for her dedication and commitment to the Presidency over the last two years. We now look forward to embracing her expertise, knowledge and support in the Immediate Past President role.

BAA Board would like to thank Susannah Goggins, who leaves the Board after completing her two terms on Board. Susannah signs off with a flourish with her fourth and final event as our Conference Lead. She has organised four fantastic conferences in Manchester, Coventry and Telford.

And finally, BAA Board said a sad farewell to Kathryn Lewis, who has devoted a huge amount of time to Board as Director, Vice President, President and Immediate Past President. Kath will be a huge miss to BAA, having steered us calmly through the choppy Covid years and beyond. Kath has been a fountain of knowledge in our team, a superb president and a fantastic support to all of us at the BAA.
