BAA statement regarding NHS Lothian paediatric audiology services

Following the recommendations of the Scottish public services Ombudsman, published in May 2021, BAA were commissioned to undertake an independent clinical audit and Governance review of the services at Lothian NHS paediatric audiology.

An independent panel of highly experienced Audiologists from England, Scotland and Wales has been formed. Under the guidance of a BAA Board Director, the panel, which has more than 250 years’ clinical experience, is completing a comprehensive and structured clinical review of more than 1100 cases. There will also be a separate review process of Governance structures in October. Members of the panel are working closely with the NHS Lothian Board and, whilst this review is ongoing, no further comment will be made.
