Learn how to tailor appointments for young patients of all ages. \n  \nGuest Speaker: Dr Sam Lear \nSam is a registered Clinical Scientist with 30 years’ experience working in Audiology in the NHS. Her main work role is now as Senior Audiology Policy Advisor for the National Deaf Children’s Society. However\, she still works part-time as a Lead Clinical Scientist in Hearing Services at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. \nClinically\, her passion has been to provide an excellent\, continually improving service for children and young people with hearing loss. I have a special interest in complex paediatric assessment\, including vestibular assessment\, and counselling children and young people with tinnitus and listening difficulties. I was one of the first audiologists to graduate with a Clinical Doctorate in Healthcare Science\, having completed the Higher Specialist Scientific Training.

Currently running her private hearing healthcare practice in North Yorkshire after a 35-year career as an Audiologist. \nAfter training in the NHS in Bradford\, Sue became involved in training other Audiologists whilst working for hearing aid manufacturers. She has always had a keen interest in professional issues and was a member of the British Academy of Audiology Board for 8 years before she took over as the President of BAA for 2 years. \nSue has a keen interest in adult hearing rehabilitation and has developed patient-centred skills through her Hearing Therapy training and by completing courses with the IDA Institute\, both in person and online.
