DESCRIPTION:Hearing Balance and Communication: Impact on Quality of Life in Older Adults \nFriday 2nd October 10am -Saturday 3rd Oct 4.00pm \nAttendance: In person and online via MS Teams. Brookfield Health Sciences Complex\, University College Cork\, College Road\, Cork T12 AK54. \nCourse information: \nOlder adults frequently experience interconnected hearing\, balance\, communication and cognitive difficulties impacting quality of life. This two-day online evidence-based masterclass provides practical strategies for assessment\, rehabilitation and interdisciplinary care. \nThe different factors leading to deterioration of hearing and balance functions in the elderly will be discussed in detail\, including biological and environmental factors. The effect of cognitive decline on hearing and balance\, and vice versa\, will be a focus for this module. \nKey Topics \n\nHearing and balance in ageing\nHearing loss\, cognition and communication\nSensory deprivation and quality of life\nInterdisciplinary management\nCurrent research and future directions\n\nWho should attend: \nAudiologists\, Physiotherapists\, Occupational Therapists\, Speech & Language Therapists\, Clinical Nurse Specialists\, ENT professionals\, GPs and other allied health professionals. \nCourse Options:  \n1.Non-Assessed CPD E305.
