DESCRIPTION:North West School of Audiology – Audiology Assistant Basic Certificate Course \nCommencing September 2025 \nThe course aims to provide the underpinning knowledge and understanding that is required by an Audiology Assistant and Dispensing Assistant. \n(NHS Agenda for change pay band 2 or 3 staff/ Apprenticeship levels 2 or 3) \nThis course is BSA accredited for Audiometry and Tympanometry\, and Otoscopy and impression taking (over 5 years) and certificates are awarded on successful completion of the practical exams. \nThe Course will be held at Trafford Hospital\, Manchester on the following months \n\n  September\n  October\n  December\n  January\n  February\n\nThe course covers the following:              \n\nAnatomy\, physiology\, and pathology of the ear.\nAcoustics\, causes and disability of hearing loss\, tinnitus.\nAudiometry and diagnostic tests of hearing including tympanometry.\nHearing devices and technology\, rehabilitation\, servicing\, and repairs\, hearing aid programming and troubleshooting\, otoscopy and impression taking.\nRevision day\, plus a day of theoretical and practical exams\n\nThe total cost of this course is £1800\, this includes theoretical and practical assessments. \nFor candidates who wish to attend selected days or specific modules only\, please contact us for costs. \nThe practical assessment can be taken the following year if needed.  Any previous course attendees can apply to take the practical assessment following completion of the workbook. I have a special interest in complex paediatric assessment\, including vestibular assessment\, and counselling children and young people with tinnitus and listening difficulties. I was one of the first audiologists to graduate with a Clinical Doctorate in Healthcare Science\, having completed the Higher Specialist Scientific Training.
