The joint guidance has undergone a significant review following 15 months of learning and our greater knowledge base around Covid 19.
When the joint guidance was originally written we looked to ensure patients and clinicians were safe against a new threat that nobody had encountered before.
The guidance has always been evidence based and, when evidence was limited, erred on the side of caution. As we start to exit the pandemic, the guidance has been updated to ensure it complies with the National Infection Control Policies released in January 2021.
Previous versions of the guidance will be archived on the joint bodies individual websites for reference. A revised table to use in local risk assessments is included as an appendix and we urge all clinicians to use this guidance to develop local risk assessments and work within their own employer guidance.
