Communicating effectively in English is a key part of safe and effective practice for the professionals on our Register. They are proposing changes which will provide more ways for international applicants to evidence their proficiency in English whilst also ensuring their processes remain robust and fair.
The proposals were developed following an internal review of their current processes, assessing informal feedback from stakeholders, and looking closely at the processes followed by other UK regulators to see where they can use similar approaches.
To help illustrate the proposals within the consultations the HCPC are holding a series of public webinars:
You can find details of how to sign up on their events page here.
Following the publication of the consultation response, the HCPC has begun an implementation phase for the revised standards of conduct, performance and ethics.
In the lead up to the standards becoming effective for all registrants on 1 September 2024, they are hosting a series of webinars to discuss the consultation response. The ones for 2023 have been scheduled, but further, more detailed resources, will be made available in 2024 – and these will be shared with you all when published.
They have held three public webinars already, with one further one on Tuesday 21 November 2023 (2pm-4pm), and you can sign up for that here. They are also recording these sessions, as they have been incredibly popular with registrants, and they are accessible on our YouTube channel here.
Following discussions with DHSC and the Scottish Government, the HCPC fee rise comes into effect today (9 November 2023). This follows parliamentary approval processes in Westminster and Scotland.
This will apply to all registrants joining the Register from that date.
