Audit
Getting and audit cycle up and running can be quite and intimidating thing. The tools below are designed to try and take some of that pain away and allow you to get started without worrying about some of the mathematics involved.
There are two tools to help with your audit process – and audit schedule and a quality monitoring audit tool.
The Audit Schedule:
You may already have an audit schedule in place. The one included in this kit is based off feedback the team at NUH have had along with some features we have generally found useful.
The schedule is setup to help keep track of if your audits are happening on time, and in respect to that produce a % relating to their timeliness.
Additionally it includes spaces under each month to make any pertinent notes – this can include things that may have impacted an audit happening or changes to how an audit will run.
The Quality Monitoring audit tool:
This tool is designed to help you with your audits. Specifically, audits which happen frequently (e.g. monthly) and are focused on quality monitoring (this tool will not help you with vertical audits).
it works along the idea of compliance e.g. was the action completed – Yes or No. There is also a middle ground which is explained in the accompanying guide (the how to use it is included in the tool itself).
it provides you breakdowns of performance for each question in both month and year format, has space to record process changes and even generates reports for information sharing.
These tools are presented in blank and worked versions so you can get a feel for how they can be used. There is also an accompanying guide to help you get started in their use – please read this first.
More of the thinking behind this process can be found in the accompanying document ‘Procedure – Quality monitoring.
