SUMMARY:AURAL CARE COURSE - North West School of Audiology
DESCRIPTION:Wax removal using microsuction\, irrigation and tools \nAccredited by the British Society of Audiology \n \n  \n  \nFriday 19th  and Saturday 20th June 2026 \nWhat this course covers \n\nReview of anatomy and physiology of the ear.\nOtoscopy to identify ear conditions including types of  cerumen\, infections and other conditions affecting the structure and function of the outer and middle ear.\nEquipment and infection control\nSafe removal of cerumen and other objects from the ear canal\nPractical sessions using otoscope\, head loupe\, microscope\, endoscope\, microsuction\, portable suction\, water irrigation\, curettes\, Jobson-Horne\, forceps and other tools.\nSetting up a wax removal service\n\n \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThis will be delivered by \n\nWax Removal Consultants\,\nAural Care Nurse\nAudiology advanced practitioners\n\nLocation: The venue for the course will take place in the Audiology Department\, Withington Community Hospital\, Nell Lane\, West Didsbury\, Manchester\, M20 2LR\, \nThis is South Manchester and is easily accessible by road and public transport. \nThere is a Premier Inn within half a mile of the venue. \nCourse cost will be £695 for the 2 days and there is a limit of 12 participants to ensure practical session time. \nRequirement of attending the course is Audiology qualification with a minimum of one year post qualification clinical experience. \nYou will be expected to gain competencies following the course under supervision.
