Apprenticeship
Healthcare Science apprenticeships are an employment-based route into the Audiology profession.
Unlike a typical training course or degree, apprenticeships combine on-the-job training at an employer’s site with off-the-job training provided by a training organisation or university.
Apprentices will gain the technical knowledge, practical experience, and wider skills and behaviours they need for their immediate job and future career.
The apprentice gains this through formal off-the-job training and the opportunity to practice these new skills in a real work environment.
Learners must be employed within a department or organisation that allows them to practice and use their skills.
Apprenticeships combine extensive workplace learning and practice within your department, supported by academic learning at college or university and distance learning.
What’s involved?
As an apprentice you’ll:
- work alongside experienced staff
- gain job-specific skills
- earn a wage and get holiday pay
- get time for study related to your role (usually one day a week)
Apprenticeships take 1 to 5 years to complete depending on their level.
Who can apply
You can apply for an apprenticeship while you’re still at school. To start one, you’ll need to be:
- 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays
- living in England
- not in full-time education
