BAA Board Lead for Publicity & Communication
The BAA Board Director for Pubs and Comms plays a key leadership role in shaping and delivering the Academy’s communication strategy. Working closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Director is supports the promotion of the work of the Academy to members, external stakeholders, and the wider public. This includes overseeing a communications plan aligned with the BAA’s strategic objectives, chairing committee meetings, and responding to emerging opportunities to publicise the Academy. The role also ensures that communication with members is meaningful, accessible, and delivered across a wide range of media platforms. In addition, the Director supports the development and maintenance of relevant policies and procedures, and represents the BAA on external groups as required.

Objective 1: Deliver key professional resources to support quality improvement

- Complete Starting from Zero and the Quality Improvement Toolkit.
Objective 2: Strengthen document governance and control

- Review all BAA documents and implement a robust Document Control Process.
Objective 3: Strengthen communications and publication governance

- Work closely with VA on communications and editorial processes.
- Support the development and communication of professional resources.
- Strengthen governance and oversight of publications.
- Work alongside the Marketing & Communications Manager to generate ideas and provide strategic input into audiology-related awareness days and weeks, ensuring alignment with BAA’s messaging and values
Objective 4: Enquiry Handling and Professional Liaison
- Act as a point of contact for public and professional communication queries received via the BAA (admin@), providing informed responses or directing enquiries to the appropriate person or resource as needed.
About Jason
I’ve been a qualified audiologist since 2010, starting in general audiology before moving to more specialised role in the electrophysiological assessment of hearing.
In 2023, I became a clinical scientist, enrolling on the HSST programme. At the end of 2024 I became the Head of Audiology at Nottingham University Hospitals on a year secondment, leading one of the largest departments in the country.
Home life is almost as busy at work, with an 11 year old and three dogs rather keeping me on my toes….
I’ve been on BAA board since 2020, initially in the role as Service Quality and more recently moving across to Professional Development.
My passion is improving professional standards and knowledge which directly improve the outcomes for our patients. I’m hopeful that being on BAA board I will be able to help shape the way forward for the profession.
