Minor Update to BSA Acoustic Considerations Guidance

We’d like to inform members of a recent minor update to the Practice Guidance – Acoustic Considerations for Audiology Clinics, launched this week by the British Society of Audiology (BSA).

The update, in Section 5.1, clarifies the positioning of VRA rewards in sound field setups. A missing reference has also been added. This change was made in response to a member query highlighting a small discrepancy between this document and current VRA guidance documents.

We’re also pleased to share that, following recent discussions between BAA and BSA, all future new or updated BSA documents will be shared directly with BAA at the time of release to BSA members.

Other recent minor BSA document updates include:

  • Practice Guidance – Aural Care (Ear Wax Removal): update (July 2025) to infection control and contraindications sections; full review due 2026

  • Practice Guidance – OAEs: status change from Recommended Procedure to Practice Guidance following queries and manufacturer discussions

The BAA and BSA will continue to collaborate to keep members informed and up to date.
