I had carried out only brief research and was not entirely sure what the course or the career would involve. However, as the first year progressed and I was introduced to the academic and clinical foundations of audiology, my interest in the field steadily developed.

By the start of my second year, I felt much more engaged with the profession and motivated to explore the breadth of roles and settings available within audiology. The combination of theoretical learning and increasing clinical exposure helped to clarify how diverse and impactful the profession can be, and reinforced my decision to pursue it as a career.

Now, in my final year, I can clearly see the extent of the skills I have developed, both clinically and professionally. The course has supported not only my technical competence but also my confidence, communication skills, and ability to reflect on practice. Placement experiences, in particular, have highlighted the importance of enthusiasm and commitment to patient care; enjoying the work has made it easier to engage fully with learning opportunities and to deliver patient-centred care to a high standard.

As I approach graduation, I am looking forward to continuing my professional development and gaining experience across different areas of audiology. I am grateful for the opportunity the course has provided and for the pathway it has opened into a profession that plays a meaningful role in improving patients’ quality of life.
