The British Academy of Audiology (BAA) is delighted to share information about the World Congress of Audiology (WCA) 2028, which will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland from 23–26 April 2028.
Hosted on behalf of the International Society of Audiology (ISA), WCA2028 will bring together the global audiology community for an inspiring international congress focused on shaping the future of hearing health across the lifespan.
Audiologists, researchers, educators, industry leaders, students, policymakers and people with lived experience are now invited to visit the newly launched website, www.wca2028.org, to explore the first release of information about the Congress and sign up for updates as plans develop over the coming months.
The event will be hosted by Professor Kevin Munro, Congress President, and Dr Saima Rajasingam, Congress Vice President, marking 60 years since the UK last hosted this prestigious global event.
Professor Kevin Munro said:
“WCA2028 will provide an opportunity for the global audiology community to come together to share knowledge, innovation and lived experience. We are committed to delivering a congress that reflects the full spectrum of audiology and creates meaningful impact for hearing health worldwide.”
Dr Saima Rajasingam added:
“Our vision is to create an accessible, inclusive and forward-looking congress that welcomes clinicians, researchers, educators, students, industry and service users from across the world. We are excited to begin sharing our plans and invite everyone to register their interest and follow the journey to Edinburgh 2028.”
The Congress programme will explore key themes including:
- Innovation and technology, including AI and implantable devices
- Global and public hearing health
- Prevention, rehabilitation and lifelong hearing care
- Clinical excellence in hearing, tinnitus and vestibular care
- Quality, outcomes and value-based care
- The role of lived experience in shaping education, research and clinical practice
WCA2028 also aims to increase global accessibility through enhanced virtual engagement opportunities, including planned “global virtual classroom” sessions for students across multiple international time zones.
Edinburgh was selected as the host city for its rich history, world-leading academic and healthcare institutions, vibrant culture and international connectivity. The city offers an exceptional setting for collaboration, learning and global engagement.
