The British Academy of Audiology (BAA) is pleased to announce the results of its 2026 Board elections, with six Directors elected by the membership to serve on the BAA Board.
This year’s election attracted an exceptional response, with 20 members standing for six available positions. The high level of interest reflects the enthusiasm, expertise and commitment that exists across the audiology profession, and demonstrates the value members place on contributing to the future direction of the Academy.
The six successful candidates are:
• Michelle Foster [re-elected to serve a 2nd term]
• Catherine Magee [re-elected to serve a 2nd term]
• Melanie Ferguson
• Bhavisha Parmar
• Lesley Peplow
• Ruth Vickerstaff
Among those elected are two current Board Directors who have been re-elected to serve a second term, providing valuable continuity and experience as the Board welcomes four new Directors. Together, they bring a broad range of perspectives, skills and expertise that will help support the Academy’s strategic priorities and ongoing development.
BAA would, once again, like to thank all 20 candidates who put themselves forward for election. Standing for a Board position requires a significant commitment of time and energy, and the Academy is grateful to every candidate for their willingness to contribute to the profession and support the work of BAA. We look forward to welcoming some of these candidates to BAA committees in the coming months.
We would also like to thank members who participated in the voting process. Member engagement is essential in ensuring the Board reflects the breadth of experience and viewpoints represented across the audiology community.
As BAA continues to expand its work in professional development, education, advocacy and member support, the contribution of members through Board and committee roles remains central to the Academy’s success.
Congratulations to our newly elected Directors. We look forward to working with them as they help shape the future of BAA and support audiology professionals across the UK.
We will share profiles of the new Directors over the coming weeks. You can meet the new team at the BAA Conference later this month. Don’t forget to register to attend it you haven’t done so already: www.baaudiology.org/conference
