Article for discussion: Preference and Outcomes for Fast Versus Slow Compression in Hearing Aids for Older Adults: A Randomized Control Trial

This paper investigates older adults’ reported benefits and preferences for fast versus slow-acting compression settings in hearing aids, using a single-blinded, crossover randomised controlled trial in NHS audiology clinic attendees. It examines whether compression speed influences subjective preference, objective speech understanding in quiet and noise, and whether factors such as degree of hearing loss, cognitive ability or prior hearing aid experience predict these preferences.
