Clinical Scientist/Head of Audiology Services, Countess of Chester Hospital
I have worked in Audiology for nearly 20 years, starting out as a Trainee Audiological Scientist at Glan Clwyd Hospital in North Wales where I completed the CAC programme and an MSc at Manchester University. Since 2008 I have worked as a Clinical Scientist at the Countess of Chester Hospital, taking up the Head of Audiology Services role in 2018.
I have worked in a number of different clinical areas of Audiology but currently specialise in paediatric audiology including newborn hearing assessment, with a professional interest in supporting service improvement in these areas to provide the best care for children and their families. I have supported the national Paediatric Hearing Services Improvement Programme as a subject matter expert for the NW region and am also chair of the ABR Peer Review group for Cheshire and Merseyside.
I am passionate about the Higher Training Scheme (HTS) and have been involved in the committee since 2019. I believe that robust, good quality training lies at the heart of improving Audiology services and, as well as being involved in the committee, I am also both a Lead Examiner and Accredited Supervisor for the scheme.
Outside of work I have a husband, two daughters plus a dog who all keep me very busy! An interesting fact about me is that I am also a qualified teacher and taught Science at secondary schools for 5 years before moving into Audiology.
