Lushinka Gopichand started her Audiology career in South Africa, and since being in the U.K. bridges clinical excellence, research, and leadership across two continents. She earned her Master’s degree in Audiology from South Africa and is completing her Doctorate of Audiology at A.T. Still University (USA).
Currently serving as Chief Paediatric Audiologist at Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Lushinka leads protocol development and coordinates multidisciplinary pathways for cochlear and auditory brainstem implants. Her expertise spans adult and paediatric diagnostics, rehabilitation, and complex hearing implant candidacy, underpinned by years of experience in both NHS and private practice settings in South Africa and the UK.
A passionate advocate for evidence-based and patient-centred care, Lushinka mentors junior clinicians, drives service improvements through clinical audits, and delivers staff training to ensure high-quality standards. She is an active member of the BAA Cochlear Implant Champions Committee, contributing to national referral guidelines, mentoring clinicians, and shaping best practice across the UK.
Her academic interests include parental expectations in paediatric cochlear implantation, stemming from the focus of her Master’s research, and outcome measures from optimally aided hearing devices following patients’ quality of care. She continues to champion inclusive care models through national webinars, conference presentations, and collaborative service development initiatives. Known for her collaborative leadership and commitment to empowering others, Lushinka’s work is driven by a vision to ensure every patient has access to the highest standard of hearing care.
