The BAA Service Quality Committee has published an updated version of the Guidance on Referral for MRI by Audiology, providing practical advice for services establishing or operating non-medical MRI referral pathways.
The guidance outlines key considerations for audiology practitioners and service leads, including referral criteria, training requirements, local governance arrangements and processes for acting on imaging results. It reflects the growing role of audiologists in directly referring patients for MRI where appropriate, helping to support efficient and patient-centred care pathways.
