Board Lead for Professional Development
The Professional Development Lead provides strategic leadership for all professional development activities within the BAA, working closely with the BAA President and the Marketing & Communications Manager. This role oversees the Professional Development Committee, the Cochlear Implant Champions Committee, and the Higher Training Scheme team, ensuring alignment with the Academy’s goals. As the Board liaison with key partners, such as BCIG, the Professional Development Lead plays a crucial role in fostering collaboration and representing BAA’s interests. They are responsible for shaping and delivering a comprehensive programme of learning opportunities, including an annual schedule of webinars. Additionally, the role involves supporting the E-learning Board Lead in developing learning modules on key topics such as tinnitus, dementia, and leadership. The Professional Development Lead also collaborates with the Marketing & Communications Manager to ensure that high-quality professional development resources are accessible via the BAA website.

BAA Professional Development Lead Objectives

  • Provide strategic leadership and continuity of the Academy’s professional development programme, including webinars and learning events.
  • Review and evaluate existing professional development provision to ensure alignment with member needs and professional priorities.
  • Work collaboratively with the E-Learning Lead to support integration of webinars and digital learning resources.
  • Expand the professional development offer through engagement with national and international expert speakers.
  • Use engagement data and feedback to inform continuous improvement of professional development activity.
  • Encourage participation and knowledge sharing across the profession, including supporting researchers, students, and early career professionals.
  • Support strategic professional initiatives aligned with member development and clinical excellence.
  • Explore and develop innovative and accessible professional development formats to support flexible learning.
