Board Lead for Regional Groups
The BAA Board Lead for the Regional Group plays a vital role in connecting the work of the Board with members across the UK. They are responsible for supporting and coordinating the regional group lead network, ensuring consistency, quality, and relevance in regional activity. This includes recruiting regional representatives, reviewing and advising on meeting agendas, and gathering feedback to report back to the Board. They lead communication between the Board and regional leads, organise an annual meeting of all regional representatives, and support sharing resources such as speakers and sponsors. By collaborating with the Marketing and Communications Manager, they help raise the profile of regional events and ensure alignment with BAA’s broader objectives.

- Provide guidance to ensure high-quality, consistent regional activity.
Objective 3: Support development of future engagement models

- Support planning for alternative engagement models in 2027 (no conference year).
- Encourage innovative regional engagement approaches.
- Liaise with Catherine when regional meeting content would be suitable for e-learning modules (Talent/content spotter).

About Lauren
My Audiology career started in 2005, when, on completing my Biology and Management degree, I went to work in a School for the Deaf. Having a hearing loss myself, I was able to empathise with the students. I also started yacht racing competitively with a local Deaf sailing Team.
I gained my Audiology MSc in 2011 and completed my HTS training in Brighton. Since then, I have worked continuously within the NHS; I am currently Head of Service in Worthing, but maintain a diverse clinical workload including complex paediatrics and vestibular diagnostics.
Outside the NHS, I work within a private audiology clinic where I have access to emerging hearing aid and assistive listening technology. I offer a range of hearing aids and ear wax removal appointments alongside vestibular rehabilitation.
Being elected as a director on the BAA board means that I can now be involved in how we shape our profession.
